Samsung Galaxy S10 Crypto Wallet Shows Ethereum as the Main Crypto

A US-based Tech and entertainment news and reviews media known by the name of BGR as recently revealed that a Samsung insider leaked pictures of the not released yet Galaxy S10 wallet which has a cryptocurrency wallet built on it.

Now, the Galaxy S10 has not yet officially been released to the public but it has been reported that merchants already have it.

The individual in charge of releasing the pictures is known as Gregory Blake. Blake shared some screen captures of what is suspected to be the following Samsung Galaxy. This screen captures shows that it is a feature called Samsung Blockchain Keystore which makes possible for the device holder to manage the private keys of all the supported cryptocurrencies.

When clients have verified and empowered the Blockchain KeyStore feature on their devices, they’ll have the capacity to start making transactions with cryptocurrencies executing utilizing the local crypto wallet which is incorporated with the cell phone.

Clearly, the screen capture likewise uncovered that Ethereum is the main upheld cryptocurrency for the device. However, this could be also because the device shown in the pictures is just a prototype. One of the pictures likewise uncovered Bitcoin symbols implying the likelihood that the device would surely support more cryptocurrencies when it is released officially.

Chris Smith, a writer at BGR confirmed that the device in the pictures is the Samsung Galaxy 10 saying:

“We know it’s a Galaxy S10 phone because the punch-hole camera is placed near the top right corner. The A8s’ selfie cam is on the left side. Also, we know it’s a Galaxy S10 phone rather than a Galaxy S10+ model because it features a single-lens selfie camera. It’s clear the handset isn’t the Lite version, because the screen has curved edges, rather than flat.”

As is has been reported previously in several reports that Samsung has been intending to incorporate a crypto cold wallet into the Galaxy S 10.

Why A Crypto Wallet Is A Good Move For Samsung:

Back in July 2018, Samsung Insights made an announcement stating that the most secure devices for running crypto wallets are smartphones as they include a feature known as a Trusted Execution Environment. (TEE)

Rather than laptops and desktops, smartphones work differently. Smartphones have a native environment which works independently from the storage and memory. This implies any information placed in a TEE can’t be changed by the OS, which totally eliminates the risk of security breaches that could influence any information that has been placed in the Trusted Execution Environment.

By utilizing a TEE on a smartphone, crypto wallets can work more securely compared to Desktops and laptops which are yet widely used to store cryptocurrencies.

In a statement released in July 2018, Joel Snyder, Senior IT Consultant, and Samsung Insights Contributor said:

“This is why smartphones have an edge over laptops and desktops for cryptocurrency wallets: without the benefits of the hardware-based TEE, the keys are more vulnerable. “There is a significant caveat: a naïve wallet developer might choose to simply store the keys on the normal internal storage of the phone, in which case there’s little additional protection from using the smartphone platform. Or the wallet itself might be malware, in which case all bets are off. But with the right wallet leveraging the benefits of smartphone TEE, there’s no place safer to store your money.”

If the leaked pictures come to be true and Samsung Galaxy S10 comes with a native digital currency wallet, this could be a challenge for other companies like HTC and others who are working to release their own blockchain cell phones.

Do you think it would be a good feature to have a native wallet on your smartphone or devises like Trezor and Ledger nano S are better?
